Welcome Return for NE1's Music by the Marina Event

Back by popular demand, after a successful launch last summer, NE1 is bringing back NE1’s Music by the Marina this Saturday 17th August. As part of NE1’s Summer in the City programme, the free, one-day, open-air musical showcase will return from 11am to 4pm on the banks of the Tyne with performances from a host of local North East talent.

NE1 has worked closely with HMV Newcastle to bring together a stellar line-up showcasing five local artists performing an eclectic mix of musical styles and genres with something for everyone to enjoy.

The Quayside will come alive with the sounds of live music from Spilt Milk, Lauren Amore, Torn Apart By Lisa, Louis Chrisp and Geoff Mull, representing folk, rock and dance genres. Performances will be staged at Urban Garden on the Quayside near NE1’s Newcastle City Marina.

Lauren Amour will kick start the musical celebrations at 11 am A rising local star, Lauren is set to start the event on a high note with her collection of relatable pop hits.

At 12pm, Sunderland-based band Torn Apart by Lisa will play their signature blend of punk and folk before handing over to Louis Chrisp at 1pm, a local DJ who promises to bring all the summer sounds to the banks of the Tyne.

Spilt Milk, a four-piece indie rock outfit from Gateshead, will take to the stage at 2 pm before Music by the Marina reaches its climax at 3 pm with an unmissable hour-long set from former X Factor contestant Geoff Mull.

We can’t wait for people to hear the line-up and enjoy the free music, it’s set to be a great showcase of some fabulous North East musical talent.”

Commenting on his involvement in the event, Geoff Mull said: “This is such an amazing opportunity for me and my band to perform to a home crowd in one of Newcastle’s most iconic locations on the banks of the Tyne. I can’t wait to share some of my music and play our part in NE1’s Summer in the City events programme. We have the best city in the world.”
